Stitch Fix Review – October

Woo hoo!! My first Stitch Fix “fix” arrived Friday!  I was super excited when the FedEx truck pulled up out front.  I love the FedEx, UPS and mail delivery people that come to my house.  I have had the same UPS delivery guy for years and I am not quite sure what he thinks of me.  I order A LOT of stuff online.  I just hate going out to shop for things, especially when there’s free shipping and cheaper prices to find online!  The UPS guy is super friendly (I think all UPS delivery people are—must be a job requirement).  My UPS guy notices when I do something different in the front yard too, which cracks me up because that means I have spent too much time online shopping, and then I tell myself I REALLY need to stop buying stuff online.  When the UPS guy delivered my iPhone 7 Plus, he was like “Oh wow- you excited for your new phone?” And then there’s the Brach’s Butterscotch Disc candy that I love, but that I can’t find anywhere.  I order shit in bulk just to get free shipping or a discount, so one day UPS guy delivered like 30-pounds of Butterscotch Discs to my door.  UPS guy was like, “You like candy, huh?”  Ummm, yeah.  I have no shame.  So I am always excited when the UPS or FedEx guy comes to drop off a package…it’s like Christmas!  The mail carrier sometimes just brings me bills to pay–not sure what the deal is with that.  That’s not fun.

Anyways…back to Stitch Fix.  This was my first time using the service and I think my stylist did a pretty good job!  I did not get the ankle booties I wanted and need, so I ordered some online last night.  This is what I ordered.  Shit.  More online shopping.  Whoops.  So this is what the Stitch Fix box and packaging looked like:

1c20e078-5575-4538-98ae-9afe1b2511c1It comes with a guide telling you how to wear everything!  This is what I needed!  I need someone to tell me how to dress hehehe.  I like that the pieces my stylist picked were items I may not have picked myself.  Green blouse?  Love it though!  And the scarf?  Scarves scare me…I only just started wearing them.  I feel like they swallow me up.  And the super long cardigan? So here we go…here’s what everything looked like on:

Green 41Hawthorn Colibri solid tab sleeve blouse ($48) with navy Just Black Adorra skinny jeans ($88).  Ignore my shoes….my cute ankle booties are on their way (and ignore the wrinkles in the shirt–this is straight from the box).  I liked the pants.  They were soft and stretchy and a little big.  Which is good, because I still have some weight to gain, and need some clothes I can grow into.  I haven’t bought any clothes since coming home from Denver and have been living in stretchy pants.  Loved the shirt too.  I like long, flowy shirts and this shirt is the epitome of me.  Plus I liked the vibrant green color!

This is the same outfit paired with the grey Rebecca Elliot Senne pocket front cardigan ($108) and Octavia Sandra abstract print infinity scarf ($34).  I wasn’t so sure about this long cardigan, but it was comfy (and has pockets!).  I can see pairing it with leggings during the winter, so I think it could be a pretty versatile piece.  And the scarf was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I kind of liked the texture and the colors.  I only have two other scarfs and they are black and grey.

Same skinny jeans paired with a dark grey Market & Spruce Alberta lace shoulder pullover ($74).  I liked the length and fit of this pullover and it was sooooo soft!  Loved the lace detail and that it was long sleeved, which I think could be a great fall shirt to wear when it’s too cold for short sleeves, but too warm for a jacket.

If I keep all 5 pieces, my total is $244 (which includes the $20 styling fee credit and 25% off).  I don’t have any clothes and it has been depressing.  I came home from Denver and threw out all my “sick” clothes, and then never went shopping because I knew I had more weight to gain.  Even though I have more weight to gain, all of these pieces will still fit.  Let me know what you think!  What should I keep and what should I send back?  I need your honest opinion–I have thick skin!

So this is how Stitch Fix works if you are interested in trying it out: you sign up, take the style quiz, give the stylist your details on what you like, want, need and what your budget is.  It’s customized to what you want– like I don’t want jewelry or purses from Stitch Fix, so I told them not to send me any.  Stitch Fix charges you a $20 styling fee and sends you 5 pieces.  You keep what you like and can apply the $20 style fee to what you keep.  If you keep all five pieces, then they give you a 25% discount off your total order.   Whatever you don’t want, you put in the postage paid, return envelope and drop it off at the post office.  Then you go online to check out for the pieces you kept.  Easy!!  If you want to sign up, click here.  If you do that, then I get a referral credit!  And I need the clothes!  My closet is pretty desolate…so since I was so happy with this months “Fix” I am thinking of setting up my shipments to every month until I finally get some clothes!  I know everyone is tired of seeing me in the same tank tops and leggings.

So what are you up to this weekend?  This weekend is a fairly low-key weekend.  The weather here in California has finally dropped to fall-like weather and it rained a little, but it was sooooo humid out.  I hate the humidity and my hair hates it even more!  So besides taking the Great Dane for a walk, I have just been busy around the house…baking, writing future blog posts, cleaning, laundry, eating all my required meals and snacks.  You know…the fun stuff.  Going to the movies today to see The Magnificent Seven.  Have you seen or rented any good movies lately?  I rented Free State of Jones a couple days ago.  It captured my attention for about 10-minutes and then I started reading the newspaper, playing Words with Friends, did some chores around the house and then started working on some recipes- all while watching the movie.  So yeah.

Leave me a comment!  I want to hear about what you are up to and what you think of my “fix!”

XOXO,

Kelly

Hey girl! I think you look fantastic in everything – I especially like the green top! Great color on you! I’m like you and do wayyyyyy too much online shopping. Why does free shipping seem to justify spending $200 on things I don’t need?! Anyway, your blog looks great. You have already done so much with it. Congratulations!

Hi Stephanie!! Thank you so much for checking out the blog and for your sweet words!! It really means a lot to me!! So I think I am already addicted to Stitch Fix- or maybe I just got lucky with this shipment hahaha. Maybe because we are always on our computers, it just makes online shopping so easy to be like “Yes! I need that! And free shipping? Yes!” Thanks for being so welcoming to this newbie blogger 🙂

Hi my long lost sister. You look so beautiful in every single piece !! I am fashion obsessed, and am somewhat of a shopaholic so I always keep my eye on the latest trends. The colors are beautiful on you, and really love the lace trimmed sweater. I love lace overlay. It’s one of my favorite details. I’m so proud of all the hard work you’re doing with your blog and getting healthier every day. As always, sending you love and hugs. ❤️❤️
