Paint By Numbers Craft Project

Today I am taking a break from all things sweet to share a fun craft project with you!  Adult coloring books were all the rage a few years ago, which were fun.  But you know what is even MORE fun??  Paint by numbers pictures!

DISCLOSURE: I received the Paint By Numbers kit for free from Winnie’s Picks.  All thoughts, opinions and photographs are my own.

Winnie’s Picks asked me if I would be interested in completing one of their pain by numbers kits and share it with my readers.  I said OF COURSE!  Because who else is dying of boredom while stuck in quarantine.  This girl is!  So you can do a number of already made designs or submit your own personal photograph to have a paint by numbers kit made for you.  I went with my own picture, because I thought it would be so much more fun!  Plus I chose a picture of my ever-adorable Goldendoodle, Lulu.

Oh and because I want you to do this fun project, Winnie’s Picks was kind enough to offer my readers 10% off their own paint-by-numbers kit!  Scroll to the end of th post for the link and promo code!

Here’s the photograph of Lulu that I sent in to Winnie’s Picks:

A few weeks later, this came in the mail:

EVERYTHING you need is in there!!  The paint, paintbrushes and of course the numbered canvas, plus a paper copy of the canvas in case you paint over a number and need to know what color it should be.  I laid my canvas out for a few days to let it flatten before I got to painting.

Ok.  So in all honesty I was a little intimidated by this.  If you know me, then you know I am running at 100 MPH and my patience level is nil.  And after seeing how DETAILED the canvas was, I immediately questioned why I thought that picture of Lulu was a good idea to paint.  But I forged ahead.  Because if there’s anything I love, it’s order. So by starting with #1 (um duh) I started my painting.

There’s no directions in the kit because obviously you paint it by the numbers.  But how about some tips and tricks I learned along the way?

TIPS:

  • When you get your kit, unroll the canvas and lay it out so it can flatten.
  • Don’t worry about staying exactly in the lines.  I mean look how tiny some of those sections are!!  It will all work out in the end.
  • The more you paint, the easier it gets.
  • Only paint a couple numbers a day and allow them to dry.  You don’t want to smear wet paint!  I would start at the top and work my way down.
  • HAVE FUN!!

And the verdict as I progressed on my painting??  IT WAS SO ADDICTING!!  I would sit there for hours painting and not even realize it.

And ALL DONE!! All it needs is a frame and a spot on my wall!

This was such a fun project and I would love yo do another one!  If you have a fun photo you want turned into a custom painting, definitely check out Winnie’s Picks!  And just for my readers, I have a promo code for you to get 10% off your paint by numbers kit!  Enter KELLY10 at checkout at the link above to get 10% off your first purchase.
