Classic chocolate chip cookies with the addition of pretzel pieces, for a salty-sweet cookie combo! I took my EASIEST (aka: NO FAIL) chocolate chip cookie recipe and added pretzel pieces along with semi-sweet chocolate chips to make a fun twist on the classic chocolate chip cookie. Do you like cookies? Chocolate? Pretzels?? Then here’s the cookie for you!
Again…this is my no fail recipe for chocolate chip cookies. If you have never had much luck baking, definitely try these cookies! You will impress yourself and everyone who eats them. And these cookies are quicker to make than a trip to the grocery store.
I recently taught a cookie decorating class at my local appliance store. Talk about going out of my comfort zone! It’s so much easier to sit behind my computer and blog my recipes than it is to get up in front of strangers and teach them. I made a batch of these cookies for the class participants to snack on during the class…hoping that would distract them from seeing my nerves. My class went well and I hope to do more. I can only get better with time right?! And maybe next time I will teach how to make these cookies. SO EASY!!
I have a thing for rolling my cookies in a bowl of sugar. More sugar, more better!
Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookies
Print RecipeIngredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (I used Rodelle Gourmet Vanilla Extract)
- 2 egg yolks
- 1-1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- pinch of nutmeg
- 1-1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup pretzel pieces
- TOPPING:
- 1/4 cup white granulated sugar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350-degrees and line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large bowl mix together the butter, brown sugar, white sugar and vanilla extract. Mix until combined. Stir in the egg yolks. Stir in the flour, baking soda, salt and cornstarch and mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and pretzel pieces.
Use a standard sized cookie scoop to scoop cookie dough balls. Put sugar topping in a bowl, roll cookie dough balls in sugar and place onto prepared cookie sheet. Leave a few inches between the dough balls. Bake cookies in 350-degrees for 9-12 minutes, depending on your desired cookie doneness. Option to press a few chocolate chips on top of the cookies immediately after removing from the oven.
Let cookies set on cookie sheet for 5-minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
It doesn’t get much better than chocolate chip cookies! Especially with the salty-sweet combo of pretzels. PIN this recipe for later!
XOXO,
Kelly
