Christmas Treat Preparations

Before long the Christmas preparations will begin, and we will start to think about who we are inviting for our holiday feasts, what gifts we are going to get people, and (most important) we’re also going to be thinking about all of the different types of treats we can make for our guests, and potentially give away as gifts too. Because who doesn’t love getting a sweet treat as a gift from a friend or relative? It’s undoubtedly a popular way to ensure that everyone feels cared for.

So what sort of preparations are we going to be making right now and what are the tools that we may need for the festive season? Of course, the oven is a must, but when it comes to Christmas, we all have different ideas on what is needed, and what will be helpful in our kitchens. No doubt our kitchens will be covered in flour, and icing sugar before long, so it’s essential to get started sooner rather than later, because the cleanup job after Christmas baking session can be pretty intense.  Or do what I do and bribe your kids to do clean-up with the promise of a freshly baked cookie or treat!

BOWLS

When you look through your kitchen cupboards, you may find that you have bowls, but they might not fit the needs that you have for your Christmas baking. The treats you’re going to be making are potentially going to be much larger in quantity than usual, which will require larger bowls. Throughout the year you may have been absolutely fine with your standard size bowls, but now is the time to treat yourself to some larger, high-quality bowls. It may be a significant investment to purchase higher quality, solid utensils and cooking tools for your kitchen, but higher quality products have the potential to last you for many years to come.

COOKIE CUTTERS

Let’s face it…festive cookies are the epitome of Christmas cheer.  Who doesn’t love a reindeer shaped cookie?  Or a Christmas star??  You can even get gingerbread men with cute little Santa hats.  Children and adults alike absolutely love making Christmas cookies, and being able to share these with friends and family really gets the Christmas spirit going.  Keep a lookout for some cookie decorating stencils as well so that you can show off your skills and create some fancy cookies in your kitchen. And while you are at it, why not make some lovely Christmas cookies for your work colleagues too?

MIXER

Baking tasty treats, bread, and cakes is a wonderful thing to do, especially at Christmas time. But mixing these can be time-consuming.  And let’s face it….a little bit harsh on the arm muscles. It is possible to make a great cake without a mixer, but when there are so many fantastic mixers on the market right now, why not have a look at the options available at the moment and treat yourself to something that will save your arms, and time too?

TRAYS

So we all think we have enough trays until we don’t.  Sometimes it’s a little bit like the mystery of the missing socks, trays somehow grow legs and disappear. Or maybe our needs expand over time. Even though buying trays isn’t the most exciting thing on the planet, but you will be grateful when you’ve got your festive treats all baked and ready to be put on display on your new trays.

If you want to avoid the Christmas price hikes, being proactive and buying your Christmas treat tools now, may save you quite a bit of money. Sometimes there are sales at certain times of the year that you can take advantage of, so it’s good to keep an eye on those sale ads.  It’s never too early to start creating Christmas treats!!

XOXO,

Kelly
