EASY Air Fried Chicken Breasts

Two ingredients are all you need for this “cheater” air fried chicken breast recipe if you wish.  You can use store-bought Shake ‘n Bake breading for your chicken , or try out my copycat version!  Maybe you don’t want the breading on your chicken?  I got ya covered! It really doesn’t get any easier than this and you can have dinner on the table in 10-minutes!

If you have not jumped on the air fryer band wagon yet, you are missing out!  It’s so easy to use, easy to clean and cooks food SUPER quick.  Perfect for busy weeknights.  I love my air fryer so much, I bought my sister and brother-in-law one for Christmas last year and they use theirs all the time too.

As a child of the 80’s/90’s, I am a total lover of Shake ‘n Bake.  And I am not ashamed to say it!!  I made a copycat breading of the original Shake ‘n Bake to coat my chicken breasts.  The air fryer and Shake ‘n Bake make these chicken breasts taste as good as those fast food fried chicken tenders, but HEALTHY!

If you do not want to Shake ‘n Bake your chicken, you can just add your favorite seasoning liberally to both sides of the chicken before “frying.”

Easy Air Fried Chicken Breasts

Print Recipe
Serves: 2-4 Cooking Time: 10-minutes

Ingredients

  • Shake 'n Bake Breading:
  • 2 cups Italian style bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • Air Fried Chicken:
  • 2-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, pounded to an even thickness

Instructions

1

Shake 'n Bake Breading: In a bowl whisk together all of the ingredients.

2

Air Fried Chicken Breasts: Line the bottom of the air fryer basket with foil (for easy clean up) and spray with baking spray. Toss chicken breasts in the Shake 'n Bake Breading or liberally season both sides of the chicken breasts with desired seasonings. Turn air fryer to 390-degrees and add two chicken breasts. Air fry for 10-minutes, stopping to turn the chicken halfway through cooking. Chicken is done when the internal temperature of the thickest part of the breast reaches 165-degrees. Air fry time may be more or less depending on the thickness of the chicken used.

Notes

Leftover chicken can be air fried for 3-4 minutes at 390-degrees for re-serving.

Juicy on the inside and crispy “fried” on the outside!

Serve with salad and your favorite veggie!

XOXO,

Kelly

That looks great, Kelly! I have an air fryer but I have to admit that I don’t use it much. Perhaps I should pull it out and give this a go. Thanks for sharing and happy New Year!

We recently got an air fryer. The thing I love best about it is this: we don’t have a/c, and the air fryer doesn’t heat up the kitchen as much as an oven or stove top. I also love the easy cleaning. I’m going for the Shake’n’Bake chicken (for 4) tonight.

It came out perfectly! Thank you again.

It’s funny that you call it “cool”; I use it a lot in the summer because it doesn’t heat up the kitchen (we don’t have a/c). LOL
