Planning a Gal Pal Getaway Adventure

You guys know I love to travel…I have been all over Northern California and have shared posts on traveling to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe with you.  Traveling to Boston with my sister was an amazing trip, and I continue to sit and dream and plan more adventures.  One thing I haven’t done is plan a girls trip away…so that got me thinking and planning.  My goal is to visit every state and with a little research, you can plan an awesome trip full of memories you will share with your gal pals for years.  I’m saving Portland, Seattle and New York for the hubs, but feel like the good ol’ midwestern states get overlooked!  Ohio was one of my favorite places I ever traveled to and I thought it was time to explore the surrounding states!

So lets be real.  A weekend (or longer) away with your best girlfriends, is the perfect way to relax and to reconnect with them. You can leave everyone else behind, be it partners or kids, mounds of laundry and chores, and just spend some time with each other. There’s nothing like getting back to sharing your old inside jokes and laughing with your gal pals. Missouri is full of great things to do, whether you live there or you’re visiting from out of state, which I learned with just a bit of internet research. If you’re stuck for ideas for things to do with your friends, it’s not too hard to find something fun that you can all enjoy.

Hit the Wine Trail in Missouri…Did you know Missouri produced wine??  I didn’t!  For any wine lovers, getting out on a wine trail is the ideal way to spend a day or two.  You can explore different wineries, enjoy tasting sessions and take some treats home with you too.  The Hermann Wine Trail allows you to explore seven wineries in Missouri wine country, taking you along the Missouri River.  At the Dierberg Star Line Tasting Room, found at https://hermannwinetrail.com/dierberg-star-lane-tasting-room/, you can explore connections to California wine too.  Choose a food and wine pairing event to enjoy what the trail has to offer, stay nearby and dine at local restaurants too.

Relax at the Spa…It might be a little cliche, but a girly weekend at a spa is a great way to get away from it all.  You can enjoy the spa however you wish, whether it’s by having massages and facials or by sitting by the pool with cocktails.  Stonewater Cove Resort & Spa is a great option, offering you an all-inclusive stay close to Mark Twain National Forest.  As well as relaxing in the spa, you can do some yoga, go out for a hike or even go kayaking.  There’s also a hot tub and pool, plus fantastic lake views.

Go Golfing…Who says golfing is just for men?  Whether you’re already a fan or you’re just curious about trying it, golf is a fun and relaxing way to spend your time. It’s a little like taking a lovely walk, with a few stops along the way.  Missouri has plenty of golf courses that could be ideal for your trip.  If you want somewhere with accommodations, the Thousand Hills Golf Resort could work out for you.  And if you don’t feel like golfing, you can get a room with a golf course view and just watch everyone else doing it.  I just want to wear a cute golf outfit 🙂

Go Antiquing…Not all women enjoy shopping or like the same type of shopping.  But if your group of friends is happiest when combing through a flea market or weaving in and out of antique stores, there are some great places to pick up some unique finds in Missouri.  Consider Fulton as one option, where you can visit the historic Brick District.  Stroll around to discover the antique stores and stop for lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants.

Take your friends on a fun weekend to reconnect in Missouri!  It doesn’t need to be a special occasion to get together.  Who’s with me?!  I’m ready to go and have it all planned out!!

XOXO,

Kelly
