Trail Mix

Make your own trail mix at home for a fraction of the pre-packaged price and with the ability to add your favorite nuts and candies!  No recipe needed, but in this post I am including ideas and inspiration when creating your own homemade trail mix!

For my trail mix I added cashews, Famous Amos chocolate chip cookie pieces, peanuts, chocolate covered cashews, raisins, yogurt covered raisins, plain M&M’s and butterscotch chips.  But really the options are endless.

I utilized the bulk bins of my local grocery store, which stocks just about every kind of nut, dried fruit, chocolate covered nut and candy.  Using the bulk bins is what helps keep the costs down when making your own trail mix.

  • 2 cups roasted, salted cashews

  • 1 cup chocolate covered cashews

In a large bowl add all the ingredients and use a spoon to mix the ingredients. Pour trail mix into a ziplock or reusable air-tight container.

Notes

Trail mix stays fresh for 1-2 months (depending on your add-in's).

You can store your trail mix in a ziplock bag or if you plan on keeping your pantry stocked with this quick and easy snack, I recommend buying some type of reusable, air tight container.
