Fun Ideas for Decorating Balconies

Have a balcony that needs decorating?!  Here are some fun decorating ideas for you…and a little break from all things sugary and sweet.  Balconies come in the form of interior and exterior, and can stump even the savviest of decorators because of the small space.  So today I am sharing a few ideas on how to decorate that space!

Balconies are where a person comes to enjoy the first rays of sunlight. Spending some time in the balcony and observing the things around, is an activity everyone loves. We often like to sip tea with our family in the balcony. People also love light reading or playing instruments in their balcony.

Balconies are also crucial parts of offices. Their presence relaxes and motivates the employees, instilling in them the drive for performance enhancement. Balconies act as connecting links between workspaces, facilitating employee interaction. Spacious balconies are assets for freelancers or entrepreneurs with home offices. There are many indoor landscaping ideas you can use to transform the balcony space into a dream space.

1. Painting walls with exuberant colors
Since balconies are placed to spark the creativity inside, the walls must be painted with light and vibrant colors. You can have wall panels, in case you want to cover the cracks on previously painted walls. Also, you can decorate with wallpapers of beautiful designs and templates.

2. Floor tiles for bringing charm and comfort to the balcony
It is important to have an elegant floor tile with a soft touch. Such a surface helps you to sit or stand barefooted in your balcony. You can feel the soft ceramic touch under your feet as you make your plans for the day ahead. You can spend better family time in such a comfortable setting. Choose floor tile colors according to the wall colors.

3. Decorate the aerial space with hanging plants
One of the best ways to decorate the aerial space is by having hanging plants on pots. This way you can change the balcony into a mini-garden. Choose your flowers and pot designs wisely and enjoy the serenity of your plants as you water them every morning.  The sight of flowers and leaves soothes the mind of the observer and enhances creative potential.

4. Articulate your space with creative artificial landscaping ideas
You can add a touch of beauty to the balcony space with artificial landscaping ideas. This idea is especially useful for people who have a love for flowers, but not the patience to take routine care of plants. Artificial plants add texture to space, making the space look welcoming. You can buy faux plants with fascinating color combinations for your home or office space. A natural sight enhances memory and concentration. Silk flowers with amazingly genuine looks can create a close to natural ambience. When selecting foliage, one must ensure the products are fade resistant. There are endless varieties of eye catching fake flowers and green plants with desirable properties, that blend superbly with your seating. If you own an office, it is good to select foliage which defines your unique business theme to the viewer.

Artificial topiaries add a brilliance to these spaces. A good design idea is to place an artificial topiary at strategic locations and make them capture the observer’s gaze. You can define your unique business theme with innovative designs and custom-made products. The floor can be beautified with artificial green mats or turfs, creating a greenish setting. Before selecting artificial landscaping products or foliage ensure they have built-in fire retardant characteristics.

5. Furnishings and accessories
Add a distinct character to your space with designer furniture. Have lightweight furniture that it is easy for you to change their position, according to your mood. You can add loungers to relax in the evening, while you listen to your favorite music piece. If you are a musician, your balcony is a fun place to play your instrument.  Not a musician?  If you are a coffee lover, then add a coffee maker to your balcony space, to make and enjoy that cup of coffee, amidst a natural setting.

6. Add a touch of luxury with accent pillows
You can have cushions on your chairs so that you can relax in your balcony, whenever you feel exhausted or stressed out. Select cushion colors according to wall color and furnishings.

7. Creating a venue for leisure reading
Balconies are one of the best places where books could be kept. In fact, balconies are like mini study rooms. If you have a bookshelf, you can arrange your favorite books there. Also, you can have a small cabinet, where books or pen holders could be kept. You can read books of your choice in your leisure time. If you love spiritual texts, you can have them. If you are an avid traveller, you can place travel-related books there. You can also jot small points in your diary, on the basis of your readings.

8. Decorate balcony with nice artworks  and illuminations
Balconies are one of the best points for displaying artworks. You can personalize the space with a motivational scenery or a handicraft. If you own a business, you can articulate the wall with a scenery that represents your business goals to the observer. Select the position wisely for maximum impact. By having designer lights in your balcony, you can make your articulated space visible even after sunset.

9. Feather your festive excitement
During festive seasons you may want to decorate every corner of your room and the balcony. If you own an office, you must use the festive excitement to breathe new vigor into your space and energize your employees. You can slightly modify your interior landscaping view with new and colorful inputs. You can illuminate the space with large commercial Christmas decorations.

Balconies are full of energy vibes to make you feel healthy and inspired. Whether it is a home, an office, an institute, a showroom or home office, planning a balcony is an elementary component of building design or architecture. There are many traditional and innovative techniques to bring some character to a balcony. A nicely painted balcony with a neatly tiled floor is captivating. The space could be rendered fascinating by hanging potted plants. Artificial foliage is one of the best ways to transform balcony space into a dream space, instilling creativity, energy, self-belief and delight. You can select designer furnishings to turn the balconies into relaxing spaces. Also, you can can create an inspiring space with artworks and books. During special events, colourful features could be added to bring festive charm to the balcony.

I love your balcony ideas! i especially love the photo of the closed-off balcony that is all white with a hammock. if i were allowed to seal my balcony with screens (housing will not allow screens around the balcony!), i would have totally done that design! i wouldn’t attempt without screens due to PIGEONS!
