Maple Syrup Blondie Bars

Maple syrup and maple extract are the dominant flavors in these blondies, that are a super easy, homemade cookie bar.  Blondies are those soft and chewy cookie bars that are made using all brown sugar.

These blondies perfect for a quick and easy dessert recipe. Use your favorite brand of maple syrup.

 

Maple Syrup Blondie Bars

Serves: 24 Cooking Time: 28-minutes

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup real maple syrup (I used Runamok Maple Syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon mild molasses
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (I used Rodelle Baker's Extract)
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons maple extract
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • pinch of salt
  • 2-2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • TOPPING:
  • 1 tablespoon raw sugar

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350-degrees. Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and spray with baking spray. Set aside.

In the bowl of a stand mixer, affixed with the paddle attachment, add the butter and beat on medium-high speed until light and creamy. Add the brown sugar, maple syrup and molasses to the butter and beat until light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Add the eggs to the mixture one at a time, beating the first egg in completely before adding the second egg. Add the vanilla extract, maple extract, nutmeg and salt to the mixture, and mix on medium-high speed until fully incorporated.

Change the mixer speed to low and add the flour and baking powder to the mixture. Mix until barely incorporated. Remove the bowl from the mixer and use a rubber scraper to ensure all ingredients are incorporated. The batter will be thick. Dump batter into prepared pan and spread evenly into the pan. Put a little water on your fingers to help evenly spread the batter into the pan. Set aside.

Sprinkle the raw sugar mixture evenly onto the top of you blondie batter.

Bake blondies in 350-degree oven for 28-minutes. Remove the blondies from the oven and let set and cool completely before slicing into desired sized squares.

    Maple is one of my favorite flavors so I’d eat an entire batch of these all by myself. They look amazing!

    I like a different flavor blondie bars. I’m thinking that there are a lot of options using different flavor syrups. I could go a bit crazy with this recipe!

    Oh, my, these are so yummy. I love maple and couldn’t wait to try them. I had to use 1 cup brown and 1 cup white sugar because I didn’t have enough brown sugar. Can’t wait to make them again with all brown sugar. I did bake them in a 11×7 pan because I like thicker bars and baked for 35 minutes. This recipe will be used often. Thanks for the recipe!

    These are the best blondes I’ve had in ages. I didn’t have maple extract so subbed extra vanilla, and added 1 C walnuts. Turned out great – perfect texture. I would even try chocolate chips next time. Thanks for recipe!
