Golden Grahams S’mores Marshmallow Treats

Golden Graham S’mores Marshmallow Treats have the taste of a classic s’mores, but in a marshmallow treat form.  And with the addition of peanut butter.  Because peanut butter and chocolate…duh!  Golden Grahams cereal, peanut butter, marshmallows, two kinds of chocolate chips and no campfire needed.  And if you are doubting my addition of peanut butter to this classic dessert, I guarantee just one taste of these treats will change your mind!

I have been making these s’mores bars for years now.  They are the perfect treat to make and bring to a barbecue or backyard party!  I don’t remember where the original recipe came from, because all I have is a handwritten recipe in my recipe book…but I adapted the original recipe to make it even better!  Anything that includes Golden Grahams can’t be wrong in my book hehehe 😉

Since we are getting into the season of warmer weather, I am sure you will be needing a quick and easy dish to bring to a barbecue, graduation party, for an end-of-school party treat, a road trip snack, pool party food…etc etc etc.  Because tis the season for being outside to enjoy the gorgeous weather.  And when that happens, people get together.  And food, of course, is always involved.  So next time someone asks who wants to be in charge of dessert, go ahead and volunteer.  And then make this!  People will want the recipe…trust me.  So just send em my way 😉

And this is NO BAKE!  Quick to make, quick to cool and quick to set too.  Sold!!

Golden Grahams S'mores Marshmallow Treats

Print Recipe
Serves: 24 Cooking Time: 0-minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 6 cups (or one 10.5-ounce bag) mini marshmallows, divided
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 6 cups Golden Grahams Cereal
  • 1-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions

1

Line a 9-inch x 13-inch baking pan with foil. Spray the sides and bottom of the pan with baking spray and set aside.

2

In a large pot on the stovetop, melt the butter and peanut butter together, over medium heat, stirring occasionally. While the peanut butter and butter is melting, open the bag of marshmallows and remove one cup of marshmallows. Set the cup of marshmallows aside.

3

Once the butters are melted, add 5 cups (or the bag of marshmallows minus one cup), to the pot. Stir mixture continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and incorporated into the peanut butter mixture.

4

Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the extract. Add three cups of the cereal to the marshmallow mixture, carefully folding the cereal into the mixture, stirring until the cereal is fully incorporated into the marshmallow mixture.

5

Add one cup of the semi-sweet chocolate chips to the pot, and gently fold the chocolate chips into the mixture. Add the remaining three cups of cereal to the mixture, gently folding the cereal into the mixture until incorporated.

6

Add the remaining 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips to the pot and fold into the mixture. Stir until combined.

7

Let the mixture cool for another minute before adding in the remaining cup of mini marshmallows. Fold the marshmallows into the mixture carefully, allowing the marshmallows to retain their shape.

8

Pour the mixture out into the prepared pan. Gently push the mixture into the pan, so it is in an even layer. Pour the milk chocolate chips evenly over the top of the treats, gently pressing the milk chocolate chips into the treats.

9

Let bars cool and set at room temperature, before slicing into desired sized squares. If you are in a hurry, you can pop the treats into the refrigerator to cool quicker.

Notes

Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature. Bars stay good for 3-4 days when properly stored.

Stacks on stacks….

PIN THIS RECIPE!!  You will thank me later, when you are in need of a quick, yummy dessert to bring to a party!  Plus S’mores!  Ahhhhh!!

XOXO,

Kelly

i hadn’t had golden grahams until a couple of years ago! i was stuck with healthy wheaty cereals 99% of the time, and i used to spring for frosted flakes when i got the chance (that cereal milk!!). these sound delicious, especially with the peanut butter.
