Finding Balance in Your Home and Life

With social media posts coming at us from all angles, it is easy to get caught up in the endless pursuit of perfection. Trying to attain picture-perfect lives is exhausting and impossible. The route to actual happiness is finding balance instead of perfection.

A Balanced Outlook

In order to have a balanced life, you need to start by changing your outlook. Having a balanced outlook has a lot to do with what you take into your life and what you decide to let go. If you want to stop comparing yourself to other people, then you need to take steps to do so. That may mean limiting your social media intake or even taking a break from it for a while.

Cutting social media out from your life may do more than just help you to have a more balanced outlook on your life. It may also free up a lot more time and keep you from getting distracted during the course of your day. You may realize that you are spending more time doing other things you love, and connecting with the people in your home, more than before.

You may also want to examine other things in your life that may need to be reduced or eliminated completely in order to maintain a balanced outlook. Sometimes we spend time trying to fill all the time we have that we end up cramming our days with things that don’t add to our lives. Spending time running around trying to do everything is the opposite of a balanced life. Examine the aspects of your life and how you spend your time and determine what is really adding value to your life.

A Balanced Family

It is also important to find balance within your family. Since a family is made up of different individuals that have different interests and are at different stages in life, it can be hard to find connection and balance.

Making time to spend together as a family is an important part of finding this balance. With so many different schedules, it can seem impossible to find a time that works for everyone. Making it a priority means picking a time and everyone scheduling their lives around it. Making family time a priority can put into perspective what is important and bring back more balance to your family life.

During the family night, it is also important to do a variety of activities. Sometimes you can stay in and play games. Sometimes you can go out and explore somewhere new. You can even try taking a class to learn something new together. It may also be fun to rotate between family members, so each person gets a turn to pick the activity. By doing this, you can all get to know each other better, and everyone feels important and included.

A Balanced Body

It is also important to find balance within your body. Sometimes we focus so much on attaining the perfect body, that we miss the point which is to have a healthy body. A healthy body is balanced. This means spending time getting to know your body and listening to what it needs.

Part of a balanced body is eating healthy. It is crucial to make small, sustainable changes in order to make lasting change. Set goals and work towards them until they become habits. Drink loads of water and eat more vegetables. Cut out sugary drinks and eat more complex carbohydrates instead of processed ones. It is possible to make your diet better without changing it completely. If it is hard for you to find the time to cook healthy food, then you can find ways to make it easier. Trying different overnight oatmeal flavor combinations to grab for breakfast in the morning, and having healthy snacks on hand, is crucial.

It is also important to get moving if you want a balanced body. You don’t have to spend a ton of time at the gym, but it is important to get your body moving and to do it regularly. Find ways to move that make you feel good. Maybe that is going for a jog outside. Maybe it is practicing yoga in your bedroom before bed. Maybe it is lifting weights to build muscle. Maybe it is playing volleyball in a league. If you want to build up a healthy and balanced lifestyle, then you need to find what makes you feel good so you will keep doing it. You can also consider buying home gym equipment. This will eliminate common excuses for skipping workouts, such as bad weather or transportation issues. This can contribute to greater consistency in your fitness routine.

A Balanced Life

A balanced life means continually examining your life to find what is working and what is not. Since our lives are fluid, what works at one period of your life isn’t going to always work. There is always going to be a need to find better balance and move towards a fuller, more peaceful life.

Namaste,

Kelly
